Ti West est de retour et s’attaque de plein front aux problématiques sociales d’une communauté rurale chrétienne. Dans ce nouvel exercice formel, il joue du très populaire style du « found footage » pour installer avec brio une atmosphère étouffante et malsaine. Cette collaboration avec Eli Roth ne manquera pas de marquer les esprits en développant une filmographie capable comme nulle autre de s’accaparer les codes du cinéma d’horreur classique.
