Paraplégique depuis peu, Randal vit cloîtré dans son appartement et passe ses journées à épier ses voisins grâce avec ses jumelles. Un jour, un célèbre gangster commet un crime sous sa fenêtre. Le faire chanter permettrait à Randal de régler ses dettes auprès d’un prêteur véreux… Hitchcock rencontre la rage sud-africaine dans ce thriller anxiogène construit sur un crescendo de tension qui mène tout droit au chaos.
