During the Spanish Civil War, Carlos is sent to a Catholic orphanage after his father’s death. The isolated countryside institution is managed by Carmen, a stern widow, and Professor Casares, a tortured scientist. The young boy soon witnesses disturbing events at night, when he sees the ghost of a child wandering in the corridors. Carlos will soon discover that the place hides troubling secrets. With The Devil’s Backbone, Guillermo del Toro interweaves his terrifying and deeply moving ghost story with the country’s darkest hours. The superb 2K restoration is not to be missed.
