The movie

The small community of Kampung Pisang (literally, ‘Banana Village’) lives peacefully until the day Pak Abu, one of the leading citizens of the village, suddenly dies. At the wake, the village chief falls dead in his turn while meditating beside Pak Abu’s body. Other unexplained deaths rapidly follow. The village is deeply concerned, especially as the corpses disappear only to return as zombies. The community starts looking for answers : is it the food served at the local restaurant ? As potential zombies, its customers are quarantined ; as for the others, they need to find the means to protect themselves from the zombies who are getting organized. Zombie Kampung Pisang is the first Malay zombie film and was a big hit in its country of origin ; as such, it is a curiosity that is well worth getting to know.
