Always dressed in a hood and sunglasses, Santi can’t stand daylight because it causes him dreadful skin reactions. In order to give him a life more removed from society, his mother takes him to live in a remote village in the mountains. The ambient quietness is soon shaken when a jaunt in the forest among friends results in the savage death of one of the teenagers: Santi is immediately suspected. In order to prove his innocence, the young man uses every possible means to flush out the mysterious creature – a sort of ghostly werewolf gollum - that ranges through the forest at nightfall. But apart from its victims, Santi seems to be the only who can see it. With this horrific thriller, Oritz uses a play of shadow and light on a metaphorical as well as an aesthetic level. Does darkness have to be the hiding place of monstrosity? In Eskalofrío, it closes in on past taboos that are finally exposed into the light of day. This movie will truly make your blood run cold.
