England, 19th century (and lots of fog): an orphelin falls in love with her employer, but this dark and handsome man hides a terrible secret... Jane Eyre tackles the great classic of gothic fiction, and succeeds in portraying its power of suspense and disturbing strangeness. The characters are vulnerably exposed and romantic, the manor is disquieting to perfection, but this Jane Eyre also has a very contemporary kick.
