Brothers Butcher
United States, 2010, 93', Swiss Premiere
The movie
Coming from a notorious genealogical line of hyper-violent bikers, the rather confused Cody goes to a birthday party in the deep heart of a very dark (obviously) forest. While the party is raging (with sex, drugs, and rock and roll), Cody’s ex, Michelle, is found covered in blood and in the throes of terrifying convulsions. But the worst is yet to come. Cody and his friends are then attacked by a gang of rockers straight out of the 50’s with greaser hairstyles that would make Dick Rivers green with envy. It quickly becomes obvious that these newcomers have one goal that is rather satanic... The Violent Kind could be the illegitimate child of Evil Dead, Easy Rider and Close Encounters of the Third Kind. The Butcher Brothers are not amateurs and their taste for good B movies permeates through each shot. A rough and uncompromised homage to independent 70’s films, their movie is an explosive cocktail of unleashed violence and biting humor. If you’re a fan of conventional filmmaking, move on: this kind of film will knock you out.
