Harold Gimble, a lonely pensioner, is the first man to suffer from a degenerative neurological disease, the symptoms of which include stiffening of the body, aggression and progressive amnesia. It is nothing other than a form of zombification! The arrival in his life of the energetic Penny Rudge, a nurse sent to his home to treat his stiffness through massage (no innuendo here, let’s keep it decent !), turns the old man’s world upside down. But the everyday life of people afflicted with this disease is under threat as three furious, moronic vigilantes go hunting for these pseudo-zombies... Filmed in the style of a mockumentary, Harold’s Going Stiff features two characters who are both funny and endearing, whose relationship is very touching. Although it is a film about friendship and altruism, it is also a form of social satire, criticising fear of the unknown. A brilliant variation on the zombie figure, which might teach you to like rather than fear them !
