Every night, Séverine dreams of the perfect man, which aggravates her boyfriend Tom. The latter decides to set up a fake kidnapping, but things do not exactly go as planned. In an elegant black and white aesthetics, True Love Ways offers the audience a surreal experience, combining oneirism, innocence, and sexuality. Calling upon the tropes of exploitation cinema, Mathieu Seiler (Der Ausflug, NIFFF 2013) manages to create moments of brutality that brilliantly merge anxiety with lyricism.
