The movie

Jessica has a bright future : this young cellist has just been selected to partake in an international classical music competition and has just moved in a new apartment with her boyfriend Lorenz. But as she rehearses alone in her flat, strange incidents start occurring, day after day — anonymous threats, voyeuristic neighbours, unexplained disappearances… Is Jessica really safe at home ? Halfway between the psychological thriller and a game of make-believe, Homesick tests both the genre’s rules and the spectator’s nerves, all the while delivering a subtle message on how everybody has to deal with social pressure. In the film, physical space itself comes alive thanks to the filmmaker’s graceful, masterful direction. Constantly challenging the audience’s perception through an intricately framed trap, the film progressively builds up to a mind-blowing conclusion which could have been conceived by Roman Polanski.
