Russia, 2004, 115'
The movie
Thierry and Henri are house mates. One evening, as they are debauching themselves in a brothel, a prostitute badly injures Henri as she attempts to slit his throat. Several months later, Thierry meets Claire, a young red-haired lady with pale skin. He falls hopelessly in love with her. Claire turns out to be nothing less than the sister of the prostitute. The troubling secrets of the whole family slowly unravel. With “White Skin”, Daniel Roby offers an interesting variation on the theme of vampires, in a disturbing and realistic manner. “White Skin” attracted a lot of attention and earned the director the Award for the Best Canadian First Feature in the Toronto Film Festival in 2004. Rumor has it that an American version is in the making…
