The movie
Louise and Patrick haven’t gotten over the tragic death of their daughter Alice. They decide to move into a remote town called Wake Wood. Here they discover a pagan ritual practiced for decades by the inhabitants, one which allows them to bring back anyone from the grave for a period of three days so as to bid them one last farewell. Scared and excited by the possibilities, the young couple asks the townspeople to help bring Alice back to life. But one question remains: what happens when the three days finally end? Produced by the mythical company hammer Films, Wake Wood is the first of their horror movies in about three decades. And what a success! thanks to the detailed attention it pays to beliefs of occult practices and its clever treatment of how humans handle tragedy, Wake Wood definitely makes an impression. Not for the faint of heart...
