Wig

Japan, 2009, 94', Swiss Premiere

The movie

Moriyama is sent to Tokyo for a construction project. This is the occasion for the bald forty-something to change his image. Hung-up by his follicly-challenged head, he hits up wig-maker after wig-maker in search of his holy grail. But the prices are hair-raising, except at the eccentric Owada’s, who supplies him with a handsome new rug. A fulfilling, but risky life begins for our hero: how can he avoid being unmasked (or rather, unwigged) by his ravishing assistant, Ryoko? Luckily, through outlandish scheming, Owada is always nearby watching over him, ready to give him a helping hand whenever needed! Wig submerges us up to the ends of our hair in a hilarious parallel reality where wig-wearers make up a virtual hidden society. Will Moriyama succeed in coming to terms with his baldness and in coming out to his entourage?
