The movie

Will and Kira are weaving their way through the Hollywood hills to attend a dinner party organised by David and Eden, friends they haven’t seen in two years. Small talk and drinks ensue, but things start getting strange when the hosts strongly insist they have some more fun. Everyone slowly reveals their true relationship with each other, and when dark secrets are unearthed, Will doubts they have really been invited to a friendly reunion. It only takes a few minutes for Karyn Kusama to create a disturbing atmosphere that efficiently conveys Will’s growing sense of paranoia. The film is particularly fascinating in its methodical accumulation of traumatic situations, which results in a never-seen-before hyperbole of terror. Following in the footsteps of masterpieces such as Let the Right One In (NIFFF 2008) and Under the Skin (NIFFF 2014), the director has produced an unforgettable psychological thriller.
