The movie

Under an Ethiopian sky adorned with an abandoned spaceship, Gagano reluctantly collects crumbs from a long-lost civilisation. As he pursues his search for the most precious of artefacts (from one of Michael Jackson’s albums to Michael Jordan merchandising), the great structure overlooking his land starts awaking, showing the first signs of life in a very long time. Gagano must now overcome his fears and face the witch, the Santa Claus and the nazis that stand in his way. But is the world really as it seems ? A surreal epic with unparalleled potency in African cinema, Crumbs clears the way for a little-explored genre. As a futuristic film, it becomes a de facto milestone of a fascinating artistic movement and reveals itself to be a cinematic trip that transports the audience to an undiscovered culture. Crumbs is a tour de force that calls upon both Tarkovsky’s streamlined futurism and the phantasmagorical culture of B movies.
