The movie

Megan’s husband must sort out his uncle’s will, so the couple visit his family in Italy, where the stay in a house that used to belong to a miracle-working priest. Being of Irish origin, Megan finds it hard to cope with southern heat and an unfriendly welcome from Leo’s family doesn’t help. Megan slowly descends into madness and stramge events unfold as she discovers dark secrets about her family-in-law and during the "controra", the hottest time of the day… In keeping with the tradition of Gothic horror, Rossella de Venuto Controra delivers a debut with a heavy and anxious atmosphere. Thanks to its clever staging and stunning photography by Ciarán Tanham, the film makes us feel the oppression experienced by the protagonist even though the film takes place only in daylight. A task achieved by the director of this paranormal thriller that revisits German Expressionism. Petrifying.
