When a film inspires three sequels and three prequels, you know that the original must be pretty substantial. Director Ridley Scott called Alien « The Texas Chainsaw Massacre of science fiction ». Indeed, Alien seems to draw inspiration from a variety of science fiction and horror films. But the thing that struck me as a never-seen-before stroke of genius, was the star of the show, the creature itself.
