In 1959, nine hikers died under mysterious circumstances during an expedition to Mount Kholat Syakhl (« Mountain of the Dead »). Were their deaths due to a secret military base, an alien presence, a snow monster ? Without any witnesses, any explanation, however farfetched, could prove correct. The event is now known as the « Dyatlov Pass Incident». Yearning to solve one of the greatest contemporary mysteries, a group of students decide to investigate on site and to film the whole thing. This film tells of their investigation following the dangerous footsteps of the missing people. Tackling a historical incident, the famous Renny Harlin proves once more that he’s never out of fresh ideas. The Finn uses « found footage », as highlighted in last year’s NIFFF, to propel the audience into a breathless intrigue with twists that never fail to surprise. As clues are revealed, the plot thickens and the film gradually slides toward a nameless horror to which you will be the sole witnesses...
