Mars & Avril is the amazing story of a love triangle in the heart of a futuristic Montreal, at a time man is about to set foot on on Mars for the first time. Jacob Obus, a charismatic and seductive musician, captivates crowds with baroque instruments inspired by the female body, created by his friend Arthur. One day Arthur meets Avril, a young photographer with whom he falls madly in love. But things get complicated when Jacob meets the very same girl... With beautiful sepia images and special effects galore, Mars & Avril is a seductive tale which manages to transcend Martin Villeneuve and his team’s visual ambitions. Some of the foundations of science fiction are addressed in this film with incredible futuristic sets that recall the imagery of cartoonists Bilal and Moebius. A film that sticks out like a UFO in the Quebec film scene.
