The movie

Livia and Alexander’s romantic trip to Romania is suddenly cut short by an accident. After being hit by a car, Alexander is hospitalized and undergoes a blood transfusion. On returning home, he doesn’t feel very well and begins to have hallucinations. But are they really just dreams ? Livia attempts to save their marriage by trying to reassure her husband, but as his behavior escalates, the situation gets out of control and they reach the point of no return... Making the move from short films to feature, Neuchâtel-born Olivier Beguin brilliantly reaches the next level. With Chimères, he serves up a poignant horror drama, in which he sincerely and lovingly revisits the codes of the genre. Not that far off from David Cronenberg, he delivers a vivid and monstrous metaphor for relationships and the way they can mutate. With its excellent mise-en-scene and stunning effects, Chimères proves the potential of local film production !
