Set in Japan, in a future where the legal system has been simplified in order to speed up the trial process, a young lawyer called Phoenix Wright strives to protect his clients. But when his mentor Mia Fey is assassinated, he must defend Fey’s sister, who is accused of the crime – and he is up against none other than his great rival Miles Edgeworth... Inspired by a video game, Ace Attorney is a real live-action manga, in terms of both the attitudes and expressions of its actors and their visual features – especially the wild haircuts ! The result is a playful and fast-paced film with a unique cinematic identity. With this successful adaptation, Miike once again demonstrates the many different facets of his talent.
