The movie
Queen Hijau has to be twice as inventive to foil the conquering desires of prince Rawai, the neighbouring monarch, and of his diabolical ally, Black Raven the pirate. With Pari’s help, fisherman of the village and beginner in Du Lum’s art –a magic power consisting in mobilizing the marine fauna and get a devastating seismic result – the queen seeks the help of a Chinese genius, who invented a giant and much-coveted gun. It’s useless to precise that her enemies are striving towards the same goal… Queen of Langkasuka, a clever mix between Pirates of the Caribbean and Lord of the Rings, hurls the audience into an epic adventure among good and evil, passionate relationships and skilful choreographies during the battles, all of it set in a sumptuous background. The film was screened as an international Premiere at the Venice Festival in 2008.
