Going on holidays to the mountains is generally approved unanimously by the whole family when it comes to choose the perfect surroundings to spend the end of the year festivities. That’s how these ladies board husbands and brats and go to a house at the edge of a snowy forest where they’ll measure the efficiency of their upbringing. But once the presents have been unwrapped, this controlled balance is soon disturbed: an alarming virus alternately affects the kids, who happily bump off dad and mum while sledding downhill or during a snowball fight. Child games, innocent games? With a dark irony, Tom Shankland alters the ordinary relationship between parents and kids, making a successful use of the codes of horror and of the most morbid surrealism. This “parental survival” avenges us forever of the kneejerk reaction to the typical “Paul don’t do that, Lea come here!” heard in the playgrounds. And the audience will take a malicious pleasure in watching this film, especially as in this case, Paul and Lea are pretty heavy handed!
