The movie

The scene is the desert in ancient China. Feng hires assassins specialized in martial arts to carry out contracts. His heart broken by love, he has led a bitter and lonely life, but his memories and encounters with friends and enemies lead him to question his destiny. With Ashes of Time, completed in 1 994 and reedited in 2008, Wong Kar-wai reinvents the wu xia pan. He shows total mastery in spectacular action scenes, while creating a hypnotic atmosphere. Superbly choreographed, the fights are an incredible display of colors and movements. A visual masterpiece, the film is also a brilliant reflection on love and the passage of time.
