The movie

A group of film students are shooting a horror film featuring a mummy in the forest. While the director complains about the actors and the special effects, the team learns through a news flash that the dead have begun to rise in the region. On their way back from filming, they face total chaos. In order to give evidence of these events, they decide to turn their cameras on the zombies. Free from constraint and with great liberty of tone, Romero plunges the audience straight into the action of this rather rough zombie movie. As usual, he takes the opportunity to add new features to his critical portrait of American society, focusing this time on the role of the media. With Diary of the Dead, the great George proves that, at nearly 70, he is still Master of the Zombies.
