The movie
Have we been lied to? In the Spring of 1938, a UFO crashes in northern Chile causing agitation amongst the population. A recent inquiry demonstrated that the object was in fact a Soviet rocket. Searching through the archives, a group of filmmakers bring to light a vast program headed by Soviet scientists and military officials shortly before the Second World War. The objective of the program is as top secret as it is ambitious: to send a group of over trained astronauts on a missile whose destination is the Moon, and this is way before Tin Tin and the Americans! Original and brilliantly directed, this faux documentary recounts a piece of forgotten history and pays homage to the Soviet film art. By means of a savant mixture of archives, reconstructions and contemporary images, Fedortschenko succeeds in painting in a manner that is realistic, fantastic and funny, a regime and an epoque. Completely mystified, the spectator can not help but embark on this out of the ordinary spatial adventure.
