The movie

With his cowboy boots, his Celtic cross tattooed on his arm and a menacing look, Adam clearly shows his Neo-Nazi tendencies. Condemned to menial labor, he has to purge his sadness in Ivan’s parish, a fervent priest who has transformed his church into a rehabilitation center for ex-convicts. Convinced by the goodness in all human beings, Ivan tries to put Adam back on the right track. An arduous task as Adam has long since been lead astray down into the dark meanderings of life. To kick start redemption, Ivan proposes to Adam to bake a pie with the apples from the orchard. You think this sounds easy, but not when the Devil decides to get involved ! Anders Thomas Jensen once again shatters morality and offers an allegoric struggle between good and evil. What is Ivan’s faith worth confronted with Adam’s hostility? What can God do when faced with the Devil? With disciplined directing and a first rate cast, Jensen balances an excellent politically incorrect comedy, on the foundation of religion and humanity.
