The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy

Jennings Garth

United States, 2005, 110'

Arthur Dent, a very ordinary guy indeed, is having a bad day. So far nothing special. But once he has truly woken up, his real ordeal begins. First, his best friend turns out to be an alien. No big deal, thinks Dent, I like him all the same. To top it all, he finds out that Planet Earth is about to be wiped out to make way for a cyberspace highway. That’s when he becomes very much aware that his nice and cosy life is over. He is saved by his friend who takes him on an epic journey across the universe. Douglas Adams manages to bring some absurd humour in a kind of science fiction that is otherwise rather pompous and serious. The writer, who recently passed away, has become a real cult hero in the English-speaking world since the release of the Guide to the Galaxy.
