"Naufragos" is without a shadow of a doubt one of the oddest European films in recent years. It is pure science-fiction, with a special attention to realism and a rare ambition on the Old Continent. "Naufragos" tells the story of a failed expedition to Mars. Shot on the sets of "Space Cowboys" it features an astonishing cast for a film of that budget, starring Vincent Gallo ("Buffalo 66") and Maria de Medeiros ("Pulp Fiction"). Make no mistake however, it is no way some kind of second-rate "Mission to Mars" With magnificent photography and beautifully executed CG images, "Naufragos" conveys the utter terror anyone would feel on a hostile, far-away planet, lost, with no oxygen, no return ticket and not the slightest chance to get out of there.
