In 2020 in Germany, democracy and prosperity have vanished after a serious economical crisis. The government has abolished all individul liberties and considers smoking as a crime. Obsessed by the control of the public opinion, the regime has just decided to authorize a single TV channel. In their quest fro the widest audience, channels will come up with extreme TV programs, such as "Gold or Grave". The owner of the channel is worried about the ethical implication of this radical version of "The Weakest Link" and proposes another smashing idea to Emma Trost, his lively program director, tha is, to win the competition by divulging the alien consipracy set against planet Earth. Humor can cut both ways in political fantasy movies of this kind, but relaxation and elegance make of "Planet der Kannibalen" one of the most enjoyable SF comedies in the last couple of years.
